Mini Master in Business Communications

Overview

Course overview

Probably no other skill is as vital to success as the ability to stand up in front of a group to effectively communicate information and influence others’ thinking and actions. Program Highlights

Program Highlights

This is a program of application. It is critical participants not only understand the tools, but they are able to use and apply them. Breakout sessions and workshops will be used to give each attendee one-on-one instructor time and a chance to use what is taught.

Breakout sessions or workshops include:

Persuasive Messaging – Step-by-step message creation
Persuasive Messaging is a far different skill than most are taught. Here you will learn how not to miss the correct time to use these skills. Participants will be given an assignment and time to work on each stage of the process of constructing the message. This process will be a part of each day in which they will work on their message with one-on-one instruction.

“You view” Project
In pairs or individually, participants will be given an actual communication case from a massive multi-national corporation which is seen by millions of people. The stakes in this real life case are the highest they could be – death of customers, damage to the brand, US government involvement, etc. Participants will be asked to assess the “You View” success of this communication. They will rewrite it if not in “You View” or defend it if they believe it is in “You View”. Things are often not as they seem in business communication.

“Elevator Pitches” and Role play
Participants will be asked, on the spot, to use the techniques taught. In these cases, they will be given time to prepare and deliver “Elevator Pitches” in the classroom through role play activities.

Presentations
Participants will develop and deliver presentations using the tools taught in class. They will receive on the spot feedback and will get the opportunity to further refine their presentations skills.
