This is done via a professional procurement organization focused on this as their primary responsibility.

This program explores the techniques and processes necessary for procurement professionals to perform at a high level. Looking at all aspects of the procurement process, including process, tools and technology used in this endeavor.

The Trainer

Your Expert trainer: Craig Reed, CPSM

Director, Institute of Supply Management (ISM), USA

Craig Reed is a supply chain management executive with over 20 years of global experience in multinational corporations. With functional expertise in supply chain strategy and transformation, strategic sourcing, cost management, materials management, risk management, supplier quality and logistics. Reed is a frequent speaker on the topic of Supply Management as well as a published author as a member of the team that wrote “The Purchasing Handbook”. He has presented globally, on such topics as; Supplier Performance Management, Global Sourcing, Supplier Diversity, Boardroom Metrics for Supply Management and Supplier Risk Management. He has served as a guest lecturer on numerous supply management topics at NC State University, Howard University and Clark Atlanta University. He currently serves as the Chair for the Clark Atlanta Executive advisory board, which established a SCM curriculum at the undergraduate and graduate level at the institution.

His most recent position was the senior vice president, supply chain management, for Eaton Corporation, a $22 billion global diversified power management company with a focus on the Industrial and Electrical sectors and businesses in the power distribution, automotive, hydraulics, aerospace and truck sectors. There he served as the companies Chief Procurement Officer with responsibility for policy and functional alignment for supply chain management worldwide. Prior to joining Eaton, Reed was vice president, global sourcing, for MeadWestvaco, a global paper and packaging company. He led supply management initiatives regarding cost reduction, tax efficient supply chain management and working capital initiatives for the packaging division.

Reed also held supply management positions with Delta Air Lines where he held responsibilities as supply management director for Fuel and Airport Services, Deere & Co. where he managed the sourcing of diesel; engines, transmissions and complete tractors from external suppliers and internal operations. Reed started his supply management career in the automotive industry with Honda of America Manufacturing and BMW Manufacturing working as a cost procurement engineer for engine and chassis commodities as well as bumper systems, mirror systems, lock systems, paints and sealants. He currently serves as a Director for the Institute of Supply Management, (ISM) the premier organization for supply management professionals.

ISM is the organization responsible for the “ISM Report on Business” for the manufacturing and non-manufacturing sectors as well as the Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) certification. He is a past board member of the National Minority Supplier Development Council and the Howard University’s SCM Advisory Board. Reed has his undergraduate degree in Business Economics from Florida A&M University and his MBA with a concentration in Supply Management from Arizona State University.
