The new methods and tools include emerging management disciplines, mobile dashboards, executive tablet briefing books and 3 dimensional reports to analyze the business. Business intelligence now requires more than just rolling up data for senior managers. Business data must be delivered in a clear, concise and timely manner to solve today’s pressing business issues. If not, managers may make the wrong decisions resulting in costly and inappropriate actions. Different types of data such as videos, pictures, sensor data and many other forms are now included in the business intelligence environment.

Add to this the newer and emerging technologies such as in memory BI and analytic techniques like predictive analytics that focus on behavior and you can get a headache trying to pull it all together. Each layer of the current BI environment has techniques, technology and types of data associated with it.

All of these key elements will be covered during this hands-on three day course!

The structure of Business Intelligence

Prerequisites:

A laptop or sharing of laptops is required to work on the exercises that are part of the workshop. The techniques are based on quantitative methods and use Microsoft Excel and some tools that may require installation.

Certification Requirements

All course attendees must meet minimum testing standards including in-class exercises to receive certification (75% is the passing grade).

Meet your expert course trainer: Frank Kowalkowski

Frank KowalkowskiFrank Kowalkowski is President of Knowledge Consultants, Inc., a firm focusing on business performance, business/IT architecture and business analytical techniques. He has over 30 years of management and consulting experience in a wide variety of industries. He has been involved with many projects including business analysis, process management, business performance measurement, business and competitive intelligence and knowledge management.

In addition to being a keynote speaker at international conferences as well as a conference chair, he has written numerous papers and spoken at conferences on a variety of subjects. He is the author of a 1996 book on Enterprise Analysis (Prentice – Hall, ISBN 0-13-282-3365) and numerous papers.

Frank is currently working on a both a BPM book for managers and a new edition of the enterprise analysis book. He conducts frequent seminars nationally and internationally on a variety of business management and information technology topics. He is co author of a quarterly column on architecture for the website TDAN (www.tdan.com).
